1947 –Wilson’s started out as a small, neighborhood food market located at 9th and Susquehanna. This is where the “Wilson Way” was established: work hard, treat customers the right way and always give the people what they want.
1973 –Wilson Beef Company was formed in the Port Richmond section of Philadelphia. Originally, we were a wholesale meat supply company that served the finest restaurants and commercial institutions in the Philadelphia area. Our business grew rapidly, and soon we had to move to a bigger facility.
1983 – We opened our first retail location at Aramingo Avenue in Port Richmond. The concept was a winner; sell restaurant quality meats and poultry to the public at the same reduced prices that the restaurants paid. At the time this concept was a game changer. Our Aramingo Avenue location is celebrating its 37th anniversary this year (2020).
2019 – We completed some renovations; new LED lighting to brighten up the stores, new refrigerated cases to expand our fresh deli. We redid our huge cold room at the Aramingo location to make it much easier for our customers to find their perfect fresh cuts of meat. These updates are our way of letting our customers knows that we plan on remaining “Philadelphia’s Local Butcher & Meat Market” for another 75 years.
